Vienna, 21 August 2020 – Not only Austria is tightening its entry requirements due to the increasing number of corona infections, but also the travel warning for the Spanish Balearic Islands will come into force on Monday. Germany has now also classified parts of Croatia as corona crisis areas.
Austrians are also affected by new entry restrictions imposed by other countries. Norway imposed a ten-day compulsory quarantine on all persons entering from Austria. It will apply from Saturday, 0 o’clock. The reason given is that travellers have to be quarantined if they come from countries with more than 20 confirmed Covid-19 infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the past two weeks.
2609 Infected persons
The number of new coronavirus infections registered throughout Austria was 347 within the past 24 hours, as reported by the Ministry of the Interior on Thursday. In Vienna, more than half of the new cases, 187, were reported. A noticeable increase: a similarly high number of new infections was last recorded on 10 April. Nationwide, 2609 actively infected persons were counted yesterday at 3 p.m., and 136 persons were additionally considered to have recovered.
